Prof. Dong Li

Northeastern University, China

Biography:

Dong Li is a tenured professor at Northeastern University, a doctoral supervisor, and a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied under Professor Lakes, the founder of materials with negative Poisson's ratio. He is the chair of the Mechanics Department, a young top talent under the "Xingliao Talents Program" in Liaoning Province, an outstanding talent in Shenyang City, the deputy secretary-general of the Liaoning Provincial Sports Industry School-Enterprise Alliance, a member of the Biomechanics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics, and a council member of the Liaoning Provincial Mechanics Society. He has engaged in research for many years in the fields of metamaterials (such as negative Poisson's ratio materials and phononic crystals), human movement biomechanics, nonlinear dynamics in mechanical engineering, nonlinear stability, and post-buckling analysis. He has led more than twenty projects including the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, Military Science Commission, and the Ministry of Education's Doctoral Fund. He has published over 60 papers in international SCI journals such as Compos. Sci. Technol. and INT. J. MECH. SCI, as well as at international conferences and domestic journals. He has received various awards and honors, including the Third Prize of Liaoning Province's Scientific and Technological Progress Award, the title of Excellent Communist Party Member at Northeastern University, and the Advanced Individual Award for "Three Educations" at Northeastern University.
